How do i build a reliable DVR PC?  

Here is a Microsoft Memory Diagnostic Tool which is free to consumers, download this Program it will provide a self extract to a Bootable Floppy Disk option or burn a Bootable CDROM Disc for alternative.

The program is very simple yet effective, simply make your boot diagnostic option, then reboot, and let this burn-in for at least 24 hours or longer to test your mainboard, memory and processor stability.

Note: This diagnostic tool does not test CD Drives nor Harddrives.


What are "Immetation Cameras" and how do i tell the difference from it ?  

Immetation cameras are 'Dummy Cameras', a fake camera acting as a functional surveillance with Flashing IrLED usually assembled in plastic material, sensor, lens and basic power (no video) enough to visually fool anyone who don't know by the brand and model.


My bundled DVR kit included with 60ft of cable sets, i needed longer distance to achieve my
camera location to my DVR system. What should i do?

Simply use a BNC Female-to-Female adapter (not included) to connect two 60ft cables to
achieve a total distance of 120ft. The power connector will daisy-chain from male-to-female
from end-to-end. Besure to connect the adjacent cable ends first to avoid cabling mistakes.

a 60ft is a popular length but under some circumstances, a longer length cable is needed.
The BNC adapters are inexpensive to purchase at electronic / appliance stores near you.

If I puchase a basic 4 channel video surveillance PCI DVR such as RW-1030S, can i upgrade to 8 channel later do i loose my program configuration and previously recorded surveillance videos?

What is "Symmetrical Upgrade"?
Symmetrical upgrade basically means expanding existing product's functionality using identical product model. Lets use one product example out of our PC Based PCI DVR line of products, the RW-1030S, which provides 4 surveillance video inputs and 1 audio input. Purchasing two more RW-1030S (three total) will simply expand total of 12 video and 3 audio channel inputs. the later added PCI DVR will automatically configure itself with necessary drivers without lossing main DVR software configurations.

Why can't I enter the RapidOS DVR Main Program after plugging in the RapidOS DVR Card?
Be sure that you're put RapidOS DVR CD into CD-ROM drive and execute AUTORUN.EXE to complete entire software installation. also verify there're are PCI IRQ conflicts while you installing the driver for audio capture devices & video capture devices (which you can identify through the Device Manager. You can also tourbleshoot by plugging PCI DVR card to another PCI slot to see if conflicts can be resolved.

Why does the channel show disconnected after entering the Main Program?
Showing disconnected is normal while viewing if you don't plug in 4 RapidOS DVR cards. Showing blue color means not connecting to the camera and this channel can be reserved for remote viewing.

Can I disable the cyclic recording?
To save user's trouble of setting and prevent the HDD from being full and no more space for recording, this function has been set as default and can not be disabled.

Why does the computer appear the message of disk capacity is full during recording?
Please make sure whether you're set the recording path to the C:\ If yes, please change to other path than C:\ and always reserve the C:\ for the system operation use only. Besides, you have to check the reserved space for each disk in the Recycle Bin should be set to 0%. Moreover, the abnormal way to operate the RapidOS Main Program, such as open, shutdown, open, shutdown & record, will probably cause the out of work to the Main Program and fail to operate the cyclic recording. The only solution to solve this problem is to delete all the recording files and re-start the recording to bring the system back to normal.

Why does it show specified VCM Encoder not supported while selecting VCM Encoder under RCC?
Please make sure the local and remote computers have installed the same compression encode or you have to change to adopt the dynamic JPEG for transfer.

notes: If the local computer does not install the same compression encode as the remote computer, it's impossible for the local computer to decode the image for transferring.

Where to find the divX compression codec if I want to use this way for the image recording?
You can download the shareware codec from   www.DIVXx.com

Why the detection area with a square-dotted red line on the screen keeps on flashing?

1. That means the detection area is triggered. You have to check the signal source to see whether you're pressed the F2 for alarm trigger or not.

2. Sometimes the noise of image may cause the same result, you can adjust the sensitivity from the Noise Filter item of Channel / Camera Setup screen.


Why does the display rate of one card with 2 cameras look slower than one card with 4 cameras?
Please make sure the status of those 2 channels showing blue color without images are disconnected otherwise they're still occupy the resources to cause the display rate slower.

The Volume of Video/Audio Adjustment in the Channel/Camera Setup is for speaker or microphone?
It's for microphone volume adjustment.

Why does the cursor stop a second while playing back the detection record?
Because the partitioned recording interval has been set as 1 hour one file if there's no motion detected. However, during the recording period, the time of no motion detected will be calculated into the file also. By doing this way is to prevent saving too many files to find the record needed among those files.

What can I do if I forget the password?
If you forget only other user's password, but still keep the password of user Admin, login in as user Admin to delete the user's account which password forgotten and recreate it again. Then you can grant the new password for specified user again. If you forget the password of user Admin also, please remove the Main Program of RapidOS DVR from the control table and re-install again the Program.

notes: Those archives are still existed and won't be deleted.

Why does my audio (monitoring or from a recording) sounded chattering & broken?

Please check:

  1. if the signal has been annoyed by the environment or the signal quality is not good.

  2. Check the color of monitor has been set as 16 bit in the control table. If not, please change to 16 bit because it will consume more resources of CPU & Graphic resource to cause the system performance low when set to be more than 16 bit. Besides, you'd better check again whether the CPU is under full loading while you're playing back and recording. If yes, please close those not necessary programs and applications to release the resources for better quality

Can I open other application program while my operating the RapidOS DVR Main Program.
Yes, RapidOS DVR Main Program is a kid of application constructing under the Windows so you may open any other Windows application while operating the RapidOS DVR Main Program, such as browsing the internet, processing word.


RW-Series PCI DVR - Remote Control Client (RCC) F.A.Q.
When I am doing remote monitoring through browser or RCC, after I select some channels to remote, it displays an error message on the view area, what happens?
You will need to download & install Java Plug-In from either http://www.sun.com/ - or - http://www.microsoft.com/ , once successfully installed, we do recommend you restart your computer.

Why can't I see the image while connecting to the remote computer to use the Media Player for playing back the recorded image by cursor?
Please make sure the local and remote computers have installed the same compression encode

Can I remotely supervise my office's DVR computer from Internet Cafe's computer without installing RapidOS DVR card and the application program?
Yes, there are two of methods to remotely supervision:
  1. You can key in the IP address or domain name of your company to connect to your company's RapidOS Web server via Internet Explorer to view but no audio support.

  2. You may also download the RCC software from your RapidOS Web server for more function view with audio support and remote access recorded file is also possible.

Why can't I play back the recorded image from other computer? Shall I need to change the image file to AVI or MPEG format?
The format to save these images is proprietary so can't be transferred to other format. But you may find the Mplayer application which is an independent software from RapidOS DVR CD on Videoclient folder for your playing back the recorded image from other computer.

We're using the IP Sharing for company's Networking and it's no problem to browse the view via IE & RCC inside the company. But why it's not possible to browse the view from outside the company even the status showing connected successfully?

in order to view surveillance over internet from a remote location, your office (or home) public IP and firewall router device must allow bi-directional traffic ( some call it in-bound / out-bound traffic).

Here are the steps to follow through to provide solution accessing surveillance over the internet:

  1. Contact your ISP and request LEVEL 2 support department.

  2. Request LEVEL 2 technician to open up TCP port 80 and TCP port 17860 for in-bound and out-bound traffic.

  3. Request technical assistance to configure your DSL/Cable Modem and most important of all, the bundled firewall router to have the same bi-directional traffic.

    note: if your firewall was not purchased with the ISP, simply contact the manufacture of your firewall router they can assist you with configuration of TCP Port 80 and TCP Port 17760 for bi-directional.

  4. Ask ISP technician what is your public IP Address - or - you can find out on your own from your main DVR computer by clicking windows START MENU-> RUN COMMAND -> TYPE -> www.WhatIsMyIP.com to find out your Public IP addess

When I watch image in local machine, it looks good for quality. But when I watch image from remote end via browser or RCC, it seems become not so clear than in local machine. Is that correct?
In local machine, the image you watch is original and without any compression on it. But when you watch from remote end, for bandwidth and transfer efficiency consideration, the image has been compressed first then transmitted. The image quality will reduce while compressing, that's why the image seems looking not so clearly than local machine.

After I install the RapidOS Web Server provided from attached CD, it seems not working properly, why?
You can try to achieve that function via IIS way. Please refer to User's Manual Appendix D.

Why can't I find the IIS item when I trying to install RapidOS Web Server via IIS way?
If you're using the Windows XP Home Edition, it does not support such services. We recommend you upgrade your operation system to Windows XP Professional Edition.
